A service for Elizabeth "Betty" Ferris, a Reno resident for the past six years, will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 22 at the First United Methodist Church of Carson City.
Mrs. Ferris died July 30, 2003, at Washoe Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Minneapolis to Roland O. and Geneva B. Peteler. Mrs. Ferris was eldest of seven children.
She grew up in Glen Lake, Minn., and attended the University of Minnesota.
She married Robert N. Ferris Sept. 21, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1997.
In 1959, she moved to San Diego, where she was a homemaker and active in the First Presbyterian Church of San Diego. She enjoyed reading.
In 1991, she moved to Carson City, where she was active in the First United Methodist Church, loved to go to the library, spend time with her grandchildren, swim with her buddies several times a week, and go to movies and plays.
Among her survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Fredrick and Barbara Ferris of Eagan, Minn., and Jonathan and Bonnie Ferris of Escondido, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Dr. Edward Tapper of South Lake Tahoe; grandchildren Seth, Stefanie and Katie Beth Ferris and Brian, Jaimie and Scott Lucas; brothers Roland, Dwight and Leon Peteler; and sister, Margaret Ann Gray.
