after allegedly trying to shoot his way into an
East Carson City apartment.
Francisco Montero is being held on suspicion of
felony firing into an inhabited dwelling.
According to Undersheriff Steve Albertsen,
Montero was trying to gain entry into Stanford
Arms Apartment 259 in the 1200 block of Woodside
Drive. Montero's estranged girlfriend and a child
were in the apartment.
Albertsen said that when the woman refused to answer
the door, Montero opened fire, striking the
door, deadbolt and doorknob at least three times.
Witnesses reported hearing about seven
gunshots.
"While she was on the phone to dispatch, he shot
into the door. Dispatch heard shots being fired,"
Albertsen said.
Bullets entered the apartment, but no one was hit,
Albertsen said.
Montero allegedly fled to a nearby apartment,
where police him a half hour later. He was
identified as the shooter by the victim.
