A man who allegedly fired seven shots to gain entry into an East Carson City apartment on Tuesday evening remained in jail on $150,000 bail.
Francisco Montero, 21, is being held on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, home invasion with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon, firing into an occupied dwelling, gross misdemeanor child endangerment and misdemeanor domestic battery.
According to the police report, an unnamed victim told police Montero, her ex-boyfriend, called her at about 5:48 p.m. to ask if he could come to her Stanton Arms apartment on Woodside Drive. She told him "no."
"Approximately five minutes later, (Montero) showed up at the victim's door. (He) started to bang on the door hard enough for the victim to think he was going to break it down," Deputy J. Pullen wrote in his report.
Montero allegedly yelled for the victim to let him in. When she continued to refuse, she "heard (him) pull the slide back on a gun."
She told police she heard about seven shots before Montero entered the apartment with a semiautomatic handgun.
She said Montero pointed the gun at her and said, "Now you and I are going to die since you already killed me by breaking up with me."
When Montero was allegedly reloading the gun's magazine, the victim said she reached for a baby that was nearby. She said he then aimed the gun at her, yelled, then lowered the gun and fired a shot into the couch. She said Montero then fled.
He was found in a nearby apartment about a half hour later. The gun was recovered, and Montero was taken into custody.
