The Carson City Symphony received a grant of $5,601, and the Comstock Arts Council received $5,497.

The arts council distributed a total of $739,096 to 100 arts and cultural organizations statewide.

"The Nevada nonprofit arts sector serves our communities, residents and visitors with a breadth of cultural activities that are integral to the quality of life in our state," said Nevada Arts Council Board Chairwoman Candy Schneider.

The arts council was founded in 1967 to develop and promote the arts.

Programs include artist services, arts in education, community arts development, folklife program and grants. Council funds designated to support the work of Nevada artists, arts organizations and institutions are funded by the state Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts and other public and private funds.
