The three motor sport divisions of the Bay Cities Racing

Association are set to compete this Saturday night at the

Reno-Fernley Raceway.

BCRA's Midget, Midget Lite and Vintage Midgets will compete on the 3/8 mile dirt oval. This marks the only time this season that the three divisions will be together at any track and the first time that the Lites have appeared at the Nevada raceway.

Leading the way in the premier Midget division is current

point leader Travis Berryhill of American Canyon, Calif. As the Midgets enter the final one-third of the racing season, Berryhill holds a narrow lead over three-time champion Glenn Carson of Newark and six-time champion Floyd Alvis of San Carlos.

Rob Russell of Fremont, winner at the Reno-Fernley Raceway in

May, is in the midst of a hot streak, coming off his win last weekend at the Orland Raceway. Among the other top drivers will be Cameron Beard of Turlock, Greg Nelson of Newcastle and Gary Dickenson of Santa Rosa. Dickenson holds a narrow point lead over Beard in the car owner category.

Making their first appearance at the raceway will be the

Midget Lites. The Lites outwardly look like the full Midgets, except they use a large wing atop the roll cage and are powered by motorcycle style engines of up to 1200cc.

Current point leader Doug Hunting of Elk Grove, Calif., is looking

for his first BCRA championship, but has two-time and defending champ Greg Dennett of Livermore on his tail. Last weekend's Petaluma Speedway winner Scott Clark of Livermore brings up third in the tight race.

Reno's Richard Neely and Fallon's Scott Ewart are expected

among the entries that include eight-time NARC sprint car champion Leroy VanConett of Galt, Calif., who came out of a 20-year retirement to compete as a teammate to Hunting. Sam Corso of Ripon, currently fourth in the standings will be among the competitors.

The popular Vintage Midget division of BCRA will make its third appearance at the raceway this season with demonstration races in pre-1975 style non-roll cage open cockpit Midgets.

The three-division BCRA contingent will share the program

with the 318 Open Wheel Modifieds and Dwarf Cars.

Gates open at 3 p.m. with racing at 6. The BCRA Midgets will

qualify prior to racing.
