Mom pleads guilty after ripping out daughter's nails

A Carson City mother pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of child abuse for ripping fake fingernails off her 9-year-old daughter's hands, taking two of the child's real nails with them.

Holly Lynn Forrest, 39, faces up to six years in prison on the charge.

Forrest was arrested Oct. 5 after an employee of the Pioneer Motel overheard her daughter talking on the telephone about the incident.

The girl told police her mother had "ripped her fake fingernails off because she was so drunk."

According to a police report, when Forrest was arrested she registered a .33 blood-alcohol level.
