A graveside service for Jennie L. Blank, 85, a Carson City resident for the past 19 years, will be at 2 p.m. today at Hollywood Hills Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Blank died Nov. 27, 2003, at the Carson Valley Residential Care Center. She was born June 15, 1918, in Montevideo, Minn., to Wilhelm and Ida May Surrey Jensen.
She moved to Stateline in 1981 then to Carson City in 1984.
Mrs. Blank retired from the city of Los Angeles as supervisor of the Van Nuys City Hall telephone operators. She was a volunteer at Carson Tahoe-Hospital.
She loved to travel and visited China, Alaska, Europe, Hawaii and Panama. She was an avid league bowler and liked to paint ceramics and shop.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1984.
Among her survivors are her daughters Barbara Herington of Apple Valley, Calif., and Valerie Rumple of Gardnerville; son, Michael Patrick McAnelly of San Francisco; seven sisters including Marles Scholz of Carson City; a brother; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
