The Carson High wrestling team may have been looking ahead to its toughest tournament of the year, but still won easily on Wednesday at North Valleys.

Carson wasn't at its best, but still defeated North Valleys 66-12. The win was a tuneup for the Tournament of Champions on Friday and Saturday at the Reno Livestock Events Center. Carson will compete in the tournament which features top wrestlers from across the country.

"We looked flat," Carson coach Dean Schmanski said. Carson was still able to win five of seven matches contested, picking up three of the wins by pin.

Owen Craugh (103 pounds) won by pin in 58 seconds, Eric Aguilera (125) won by pin in two minutes and Chris Ceccarelli (189) won by pin in 1:59.

Also winning for Carson were Micah Whitcome (152), who won 4-2 and Joe Roman (179), who won 10-3. Robbie Bozin (112), Kyl Banko (119), Ahron Osheroff (135), Cody Albee (140) and Travis Lamborn (145), Nick Shine (215) and Jason Klug (heavyweight) all won by forfeit.

Schmanski did say that Ceccarelli looked impressive. "Ceccarelli looked like he was right on," Schmanski said.

Loren Wooldridge was under the weather and suffered a loss at 160. "I probably should have kept him from wrestling," Schmanski said.

For Carson's No. 2 team, Brandon Moyle, Brian Mustafa, Stephen Remer and David Cadwallader all won by pin.
