The Douglas High boys basketball team played strong in the first half and held on for a 63-55 win over Marana of Tucson, Ariz., in the Las Vegas Prep Championship Tournament.
Douglas built a 16-point lead in the first half before holding off Marana. The Tigers settled for a 32-20 halftime lead.
"We just played very flat in the second half," Douglas coach Keith Lewis said. "We have to do a better job of finishing people off. I thought we played very, very well in the first half."
6-8 freshman center Keith Olson had an outstanding game for Douglas with a double double in points and rebounds. He scored 18 points. Pat Carlson came off the bench to score 14 points.
Eric Emm scored nine of his 13 points in the fourth quarter to keep Douglas safely ahead. The Tigers will play Las Vegas at 5 p.m. today.
