The Carson Valley Girls Softball Association has chosen to join the National Softball Association, also known as NSA.

C.V.G.S.A has been an independent non-profit organization for girls fastpitch softball that offers play for girls ages 5 through 18. It is a recreational league that allows everybody to play, no matter what their ability is from first time players through seasoned veterans.

During the last week of January, Neil Hill, president, and Rod Moore, Senior Division representative, attended a meeting in Reno along with presidents and representatives from other Northern Nevada girls fastpitch softball leagues. Many of the leagues were dropping their current national association and one of the alternatives was NSA Girls Fastpitch Softall.

C.V.G.S.A. and some of the other leagues that were there liked what was being offered. Hill and Moore discussed the possibilities and everything that NSA had to offer and decided to bring it to the board. Jim Dunn, Northern Nevada State youth director for NSA, was invited to attend the meeting and to answer any questions that the rest of the board may have had. On Sunday, February 2 the board unanimously voted in favor of joining the National Softball Association.

Joining NSA girls fastpitch softball will not change the existing league. It will still be a recreational league, everybody plays. The benefits that it will bring to the program will improve the league's overall play. It will open the door for the league to have post-season play against other towns and to form a tournament team for a higher level of play. It will give the girls a chance to play in local, regional and state tournaments. It will even give the league the opportunity to play out of state tournaments and the opportunity to host NSA tournaments in the Carson Valley. The board stated it's sure this is a positive move for Carson Valley Girls Softball.
