The Dayton High boys basketball team couldn't shake Truckee, but held on for a 73-68 win on Wednesday.
Dayton improved to 9-3 in Northern 3A play. "I'm not happy about it," said Dayton coach Rob Streeter about how high scoring the game was. "I don't like high-scoring games."
The Dust Devils have been a strong defensive team this year, but 43 fouls made for a high-scoring game against Truckee. Dayton was 18-of-31 from the foul line while Truckee was 21-of-33.
Dayton led throughout and led by as many as 12 points. Truckee stayed in the game by hitting four three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Jake Deen had 20 points and 12 rebounds, Justin Harris scored 11 points, Nick McQueen had 10 points and Matt Bowman added nine points. Adam Diament provided Dayton with a spark off the bench, scoring nine points..
DAYTON GIRLS 53, TRUCKEE 39
The Dayton girls basketball team improved to 5-5 in league play and strengthen its position to finish in the top six and qualify for the zone playoffs. Amanda Sbragia had 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Jessica Cantwell scored 14 points and Liz Schlottmann had eight points and five rebounds for Dayton.
