Police are looking for a robbery suspect who

walked into the Carson City Gottschalks hair salon and made

off with the day's receipts.

The suspect is described as a white male adult, 6

feet, 2 inches tall, with short blond hair. He was

wearing a blue windbreaker and dark-colored jeans

and carried a black bag, said Sgt. Wade Penegor

of the Carson City Sheriff's Department.

Penegor said the robber entered through the south

doors of the department store and confronted a

clerk, who had just put an undisclosed amount of cash and checks into a tan, canvas cash

deposit bag with a plastic see-through sleeve on

one side.

"The deposit bag was in plain view, and the

suspect doesn't say anything, snatches the bag,

and runs out the south doors," Penegor said.

When the clerk followed, the suspect turned to

him and said, "Back off," motioning with the black

bag as though he had a weapon, Penegor said.

The clerk told police the man got into a faded,

grayish-blue, 1980s-model, four-door car and drove east,

exiting the parking lot onto Stewart Street.

There was no license plate on the front of the

vehicle, and the rear plate had a Nevada sunset

design, Penegor said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the

Sheriff's Department at 887-2020.
