At a dinner given at the residence of H.M. Yerington on Thursday evening, the announcement was made of the engagement of M.H. Yerington to Miss Annie Ladd, of San Francisco, a niece of Mrs. S.H. Day of this city.

Before the election the platforms of the Silver and Democratic parties pledged themselves to pass a law adopting the eight hour systems in mills and mines and other places where law should be enforced for the betterment of the workmen. It passed the Assembly unanimously. It is safe to say it will pass the Senate.

Chamber of Commerce new bylaws, setting 50 cents a month for dues, also set a new change. The secretary shall receive one-fifth of all dues collected. Heretofore, it has been a flat fee of $25 per month.

State Museum exhibit features early day Nevada Legislators with an illuminating picture of members of Nevada's first legislature which convened in Carson City Dec. 12, 1964, from a clipping from the Virginia City Daily Union coverage of the gathering.

Negotiators for the Carson City Employees Association are aware the Board of Supervisors has the authority to grant 10 percent pay increases to unclassified employees, said CCEA President Fred Schaefer.

Eleven young women will compete for the Miss Douglas County title in the Miss Douglas County-Miss Sierra Nevada Scholarship Pageant at Caesars Circus Maximus Showroom at Stateline. They are Kristian Burchett, Jessica Wood, Kimberly Ahrens, Amber Coburn, Amy Moore, Patricia Seferite, Melissa Craig, Deanna Turner, Christine Brown, Jennifer Reddick and Brandi Burt.
