Report that Major Garrard will induce his assistants to leave the State Prison in a body as soon as the new Warden assumes control so as to embarrass him are maliciously false. The Major is too high minded a gentleman to resort to such petty action. He will render the new chief of the prison every aid that lies in his power.

Lincoln County Record says a large game of poker lasted from Saturday until Monday morning. One blooded sport is said to have gambled off his watch, residence, wife and baby, and the person who won them is headed north to explain to another lady why this is thusly.

Carson High School Pow Wow (in Appeal feature). Personals. Barr Dee Haines is reported absent form the freshman class. He is a page in the legislature. Senior report absence of Jean Cameron. Her little sister has the chicken pox.
50 YEARS AGO
Edward McFaul, longtime resident of this city, died this morning. He came from Canada to Lake Tahoe with his parents while still a baby. He worked here as a carpenter. (He was the only person at my graduation at Carson High school, a common detail of rural Nevada high students).

Carson airport is not an inherently dangerous airport, but it can be difficult for night landings, said Ron Kitchen, chairman of the Airport Advisory Board. Subject was navigation aid moneys from the Federal Aviation Administration.

James Duensing, a seventh grade student at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, won the school level competition of the National Geography Bee recently. First prize for the national winner is a $25,000 scholarship. Moderator is Alex Trebeck, host of Jeopardy.
