A man's leg was smashed Saturday when the truck he was working on lurched forward, pinching his legs between the truck and a car, according to Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Richard Pope.
Spencer Davidson, 27, was taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred in a lot at the corner of East John and Stewart streets about 10:40 a.m. Deputies are officially calling the mishap an "incident" because no one was driving and it occurred on private property.
According to deputies, Davidson was starting the sky-blue Chevy Custom Delux truck from under the hood because of starter trouble. It was parked in a lot shared by Grateful Head Hair Salon and Sierra Financial Associates.
The truck was in gear, however, so when it started it drove from the parking lot over a gravel divider along John Street and hit a white Ford Focus parked on the street, pinning Davidson.
The first call went out to emergency crews at 10:45 a.m. and they arrived on scene about 4 minutes later. No charges are expected to be filed, according to deputies.
