Several local players will lead the Dana College baseball team this season.
The NAIA school from Nebraska has improved each year, posting its best record of 26-35 last season. Among the leaders will be Carson High graduate Craig Martin,a senior first baseman. Martin was an honorable mention all-Great Plains Athletic Conference player last year.
Other local players include Douglas High graduate Tommy Bond, a junior catcher and Douglas High's Kenny Nicoll, a junior pitcher/infielder.
With 12 returning letterman and his strongest recruiting class, Dana College coach Damon Day said he has high hopes for the upcoming season. Dana began its season last weekend by dropping a doubleheader to Newman (Kan.) University, 6-4 and 11-2.
