120 YEARS AGO

There was a most delightful party at the residence of Gen. Clarke last night. Those who have been previously entertained at this hospitable mansion can appreciate the fact that no one left the assemblage, which was large and select, without voting the host and hostess royal entertainers. At the residence of Mr. D.L. Bliss, there was a magnificent children's party, well attended and splendidly managed.

100 YEARS AGO

Among the state officers who have worked for the interest of the people and who will retire Monday is William Woodburn, the attorney general. Mr. Woodburn has always occupied a position in public life, not only as congressman but in all matters of public note. James G. Sweeney, youngest A.G. in United States, follows.

70 YEARS AGO

High wind last night caused the plate-glass window in Abe Cohn's Indian curio store to fall outward and break. They were guests at the Clyde home for dinner, and frantic efforts reached them there.

50 YEARS AGO

Final approval has been received of federal assistance in the amount of $62,586 for three elementary school buildings in Carson City. Each has five classrooms, an office, staff and clinic room, a furnace, a storeroom, enclosed corridors and equipment, says Supt. Donald Robertson. This is added to bond issue.

20 YEARS AGO

Department of Agriculture lost its bid for $46,000 to beef up cattle brand inspections after the Interim Finance Committee said there was not time for another appropriation from the general fund.

10 YEARS AGO

Lt. Col. Daniel C.B. Rathburn has been promoted to the rank of colonel in the Nevada Army National Guard. He is Battle Born commander for the Nevada Army National Guard in Carson City, with 32 years of military service. He commands 1,600 Nevada Army National Guardsmen.
