Season tickets sales for 2003 for the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company have been brisk, with people as far away as San Jose, Calif., buying tickets to Carson City entertainment for holiday gifts.
According to producer Stephanie Arrigotti, season ticket sales peaked during the recent production of "Oklahoma!," and have continued steadily.
"We have a mix of new customers and loyal patrons who have been coming to our shows for years," she said.
The 2003 season includes Cole Porter's "Kiss Me, Kate" in May, Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story" in June, Adler and Ross' "Pajama Game" in September, and Jerry Herman's "Hello, Dolly!" in November.
Season ticket packages start as low as $30 to $49 for people who can commit to show dates when they buy their tickets (Pick-a-Color tickets).
Prices for those who reserve their performance date two weeks before the show range from $32 to $53.
According to Arrigotti, season ticket-holders come from several areas in California and Nevada, including Wellington, Fallon and Reno; Penn Valley and Susanville, Calif.; and, of course, Minden, Gardnerville and Carson City.
"We also have people who initially came on tour buses to see our shows from the Bay area, then chose to buy season tickets for themselves and their friends and drive up on their own," she said.
Ticket sales have increased steadily, despite a national downward trend in subscriptions.
"We keep our prices low to make the shows affordable for our audiences, but work very hard to keep the quality high. Our season ticket-holders also enjoy the benefit of getting first pick of seats when we open the house. They are important to us, and we do what we can to let them know that," Arrigotti said.
