120 YEARS AGO

It was a subject of general remark yesterday that while the new governor was being inaugurated, the flag over the Capitol was at half-staff. It was merely an accident, however, but the Republicans think it was a dispensation of providence.

100 YEARS AGO

There is no question about there being a big house to greet Miss Raffetto at the opera house this evening. Over 200 seats have been sold from the reserves and the benches will be packed. The press of the east has been loud in her praise. Mrs. Jas. D. Toreyson, Carson's favorite singer, will be heard in a new song and will sing a duet with our own sweet contralto, Mrs. E.B. Yerington.

70 YEARS AGO

Henry C. Bath, who watched Carson City grow from a camp to its present state, died at 75. He came here at six months old and camped on the present site of the Capitol Grounds. The family engaged in ranching. Survivors include widow, Mrs. Carrie M. Bath, and three sons, Ernest and Ralph Bath of Carson and John of Sparks.

50 YEARS AGO

Fred Dressler of Gardnerville was elected second vice-president of the American National Cattlemen's Association at Kansas City.

20 YEARS AGO

Pickup from old pages. This would have been the 65th anniversary of the marriage of Miss Gertrude Riordan to Mr. George Gottschalk. Both were from well known Nevada families (Dec. 31).

10 YEARS AGO

Former Rollerworld was damaged by water Monday after a sprinkler system broke. Utility Director Dorothy Timian-Palmer said the water department had turned off a lot of waterlines due to freezing temperatures.
