100 YEARS AGO

It is understood a strike is likely tomorrow. The employees of the Truckee River Power & Light Company have made a demand on the company for an advancement in wages. They have been paying $2.50 a day and the demand is for $3. Letters of administration have been secured in the estate of D. Circe, deceased. It is one of the largest in the county amounting to over $20,000.

70 YEARS AGO

Presenting a mock prison scene and criminal court, the masculine members of the Leisure Hour Club last night provided a couple of hours of hilarious entertainment for the ladies. Prisoners were arrested from members of the audience by Special Officer Donald Olmstead and hauled before Desk Sergeant Homer Mooney who was arraigned before Judge W.H. Cavell to be sentenced to skits.

50 YEARS AGO

Deputy police chief Howard Hoffman today warned against air rifles after a pellet hit a boy between the eyes, protected by glasses.

Small earthquake that shook local residents Sunday was centered eight miles southeast of Carson City and registered 3.5 on the Richter scale.

Volunteers are being sought for assistance at the Nevada State Library and Archives to enhance services in the new library building which opened Jan. 4. Michael Buckley is organizing the volunteer program.
