Drivers cruising through Carson City and beyond can tune into 530 AM once again to find tourist tips and bits of city news

City redevelopment and convention and visitors groups have teamed together to purchase a new transmitter. The station is now up and running.

"It's so exciting, it works," said Candace Duncan, director of the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The radio will only broadcast noncommercial announcements about schools, school closures, road construction alerts and events. For drivers, it will highlight local historical attractions and other places to visit and stay.

Local television broadcaster Dave Morgan will narrate the messages. The station can be heard from Gardnerville to Washoe Valley.
