A Carson City man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempting to rob his employer at gunpoint after she recognized him under his mask.
Dale Beard, 42, a cook at Grandma Hattie's, 2811 S. Carson St., is being held at the Carson City Jail on suspicion of robbery.
According to police reports, officers went Monday to a silent alarm at the restaurant at 9:50 p.m.
The manager told police she had gone to the back of the store to place the day's receipts in a safe when a "small-framed male subject brandished a small silver handgun at her," according to police.
The manager said the robber, whose face was covered in a black mask, motioned for her to sit down and be quiet.
Although the man had his face covered, the manager told police she recognized him.
"The victim told deputies she even asked the male subject, 'Dale, is that you?' and told him to quit 'playing around," the report says.
When the man didn't respond and continued to motion for her to sit, the manager screamed and ran for help. She said she believes the robber ran from the store at that time.
Beard was arrested after officers spotted him walking near the restaurant. Police recovered a pellet gun from his vehicle in the Grandma Hattie's parking lot.
He is being held with bail set at $40,000.
