A funeral for Franklin Gendron, 83, a Silver Springs resident for the past nine years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday before the service.
Mr. Gendron died Jan. 15, 2003, in Silver Springs. He was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Pentooga, Mich., to George and Jennie Denome Gendron.
He grew up in northern Michigan.
Before moving to Silver Springs, he lived in Sun Valley.
Mr. Gendron was a lumberjack. He was a life member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and family gatherings.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France and Germany.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, in December 2000, And five brothers and three sisters as well.
Among his survivors are: sons Samuel and Timothy, both of Silver Springs, Daniel of Detroit, Mich. and Thomas of Newberry, Mich.; daughters Belinda Loker of Silver Springs, Katherine Blackann of Ohio, Penny Dennis of Mancelona, Mich. and Amy Reno of West Branch, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
