The Dayton boys basketball team set up its showdown today with Lowry by rolling past Spring Creek 48-34 on Friday.
Dayton improved to 5-0 in the Northern 3A, heading into today's 2:30 p.m. game at home against Lowry.
Against Spring Creek, Dayton led 33-16 at halftime and outscored the Spartans 8-3 in the third quarter to take a 41-19 lead. Jake Deen scored 12 points and Brian Lahmann added 11 points for the Dust Devils.
"I'm very happy with our defensive intensity," Dayton coach Rob Streeter said. "We're doing some good things. Kids are getting into rotation and we're controlling the boards."
SPRING CREEK 58, DAYTON GIRLS 45
Amanda Sbragia had a huge game with 18 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and three steals, but it wasn't enough for the Douglas girls basketball team, which fell to 2-2 in league play.
Jessica Cantwell scored 12 points, Liz Schlottmann had 10 points and seven rebounds and Christy Fox added seven assists for Dayton.
The game was tied 11-11 after one quarter and Spring Creek took a 27-22 halftime lead. Spring Creek hit five three-pointers in the third quarter while Dayton struggled from the floor to break the game open. Spring Creek led 45-31 after three quarters.
LOWRY 63, YERINGTON BOYS 47
Wes Thomas scored 18 points in the loss for the Yerington boys basketball team, which fell to 1-2 in league play.
