Alf Chartz's comments under headlines "Should he hang?": A timely query in the Buralli case, Chartz takes up the important matter. "Editor Appeal, a man named Buralli, whom I have never seen in my life, is under sentence of death in Dayton for killing a man named Zari, whom also I have never seen. I do not believe Buralli committed an offense deserving death. Among many reasons he cites, the witnesses who testified against him do not want him to."

Former Carson newspaper publisher Wes Davis is one of the new members of the state Assembly. A Republican, he was elected from Washoe County, where he is now a printer in Reno. Paul Laxalt formally took the reins of the 20-30 Club from retiring president Bob Krebs.

Carson City Realtor Bob Paoli, 36, died at a campsite near Beowawe while on a hunting trip with his cousin. The owner of Paoli properties, Paoli was food and beverage manager of the Nugget for many years. Reported death cause was a carbon monoxide heater in a camping trailer.

Parks and Recreation Commission may drill a well in the southeast corner of Sonoma Park, according to Chairman Pete Livermore.
