Alcasas pitches shutout to lead Cardinals

Jason Alcasas pitched a four-hit shutout to lead the Carson Cardinals to a win over the Whalley Chiefs of British Columbia, Canada in their opener of the Walla Walla (Wash.) Senior Legion Tournament.


The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the first when Tony Teixeira singled and scored on Cameron Leck's single. In the third, Murph Gardner walked, Aaron Henry singled, Teixeira followed with a sacrifice bunt and the Andrew James hit an RBI single.


Alcasas escaped a jam in the sixth when Whalley had runners at first and third with one out by striking out two straight batters to end the inning.
