Cardinals win a wild one

Ryan Henry's two-run home run capped a four-run rally in the eighth inning as the Carson Cardinals baseball team was able to pull out a 13-9 win over Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday in the Walla Walla (Wash.) Senior Legion Tournament.

The Cardinals finished in second place in their pool with a 2-2 record. The Cardinals were able to win despite starting the game with only 10 players. Andrew James, who pitched for the first time since Little League on Friday, was also bothered by a wrist injury and struggled to swing the bat.

James, though, was able to pick up a key hit in the eighth inning rally.

The Cardinals scored seven runs in the fifth to take a 9-3 lead. Three runs scored on five straight singles by Aaron Henry, Cameron Leck, Jason Alcasas, Ryan Henry and Logan Parsley, who had a two-run hit.

Alex Tanchek hit an RBI single and Royal Good's sacrifice fly made it 7-3. Aaron Henry followed with a two-run single.

But Pocatello scored three runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to tie it. The tying run came when the Pocatello runner bulled over catcher Jason Alcasas. Instead of being the last out of the game, the run was allowed.

But James led off the eighth with a single, Aaron Henry walked and Leck was hit by a pitch. James scored on a wild pitch and Henry scored all the way from second on the play. Ryan Henry followed with his two-run shot.

Josh Camper went the distance for the win. Ryan Henry had two hits and three RBI, Parsley and Aaron Henry each had two hits and two RBI, Tanchek had three hits and Leck went 2-for-3.
