Cousins Willie and Matt Bowman combined to bang out seven hits and both played roles in a ninth-inning rally that lifted the Sierra Sun Devils to a 12-11 victory against Feather River Saturday in Reno.
The Sun Devils scored seven runs in the ninth inning, six of which came after two outs, as they rallied to pick up a win at Wooster High School that improved their season record to 32-12. The Sun Devils have won seven straight.
Feather River scored three runs in the top of the ninth to extend its lead to 11-5.
Matt Bowman singled to load the bases in the ninth and Willie Bowman delivered a two-run single that brought the Sun Devils to within 11-8. Zach Borba's RBI double tied the score and Kevin Snow's bases loaded infield hit brought home the winning run.
Willie Bowman, a senior-to-be at Carson High, hit 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Dayton High's Matt Bowman was 3-for-6 with one RBI. The Sun Devils had 18 hits as a team.
The Sun Devils co-host the state Joe DiMaggio Tournament starting on Wednesday. They open with an 11:30 a.m. game at Wooster on Wednesday, while the Douglas Tigers open the same day with a 12:30 p.m. game at Reed High.
