A service for Harry Steinert, 73, a Carson City resident, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mr. Steinert died July 29, 2003, at his home. He was born July 25, 1930, in Galatia, Kan., to Bernhard and Elsa Deines Steinert.
He attended schools in Kansas and received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo.
Following graduation he went to work for the Adams State Registrar's Office. He moved to Nevada in 1968 where he was associate registrar at UNR. In 1975, he became director of Admissions and Records at Western Nevada Community College, from which he retired in 1993. He worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block for several years and was a volunteer at the Carson City Senior Center. He enjoyed singing, fly fishing and gardening. He was a member of of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mr. Steinert was preceded in death by his brothers John, Raymond, Bernhard Jr., Thomas and Karl and son, Steven.
Among his survivors are his wife Beverly of Carson City; daughters Kathy Sargent and Cindy Steinert and son Alan Steinert, all of Portland, Ore.; stepdaughters and their husbands Brenda and Rod Villegas of Denver, Denise and Ken Moen of Sparks and Melanie and Vince Goicoechea of Reno; sister Vida Schulz of Denver and several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Private inurnment will be at a later date.
