Jim "Izzy" Isbister joins Head Golf Professional Mike Browning and LPGA Instructor Cyndi McDonald as the latest addition to the professional staff at Eagle Valley Golf.
Originally from Buffalo, N.Y., Isbister joined the Navy in 1970 and received his orders to the Naval Air Station at Fallon. After his tour of duty, he continued on in a Civil Service position on the base. He started playing golf in 1975, and joined the PGA in 1989.
In addition to working on the base, he also served as the Head Professional at the Fallon Golf Course.
While maintaining the daily operations at the Fallon Golf Course, he saw a great need for golf instruction in the community and so began attending PGA educational and instructional seminars to develop his teaching skills.
"I developed an incredible relationship with my students and the Fallon community," Isbister said.
After 32 years of federal service, in April, Isbister was offered the opportunity to retire early and accepted. He was thrilled to be offered the opportunity to work and teach at Eagle Valley and started immediately thereafter. He looks forward to bringing his teaching skills and golf knowledge to the Carson City community and Eagle Valley.
Isbister is now available for private and group lessons. He assists in teaching the Thursday evening ladies golf clinics, and plans for more clinics soon. He will also be working in this summer's program for junior golfers from the Washoe Tribe of California and Nevada at Eagle Valley.
Currently residing in Fallon, he hopes to move to Carson City in the future.
