Work to relocate water, sewer and reclaimed water lines from East College Parkway north to Genoa Lane will begin Monday at West Bonanza Drive and Imus Road.
The $389,000 project, paid for with Carson City sewer and water capital funds and Nevada Department of Transportation reimbursement funds, will make way for the future Carson City freeway.
Rapid Construction Inc., of Reno, will begin work Monday at West Bonanza Drive and Imus Road. Water and sewer line relocations may begin by the end of next week, said construction manager John Benzing.
"If everything goes right, there should be very little disruption to people's water and sewer service," he said.
Traffic and parking may be restricted temporarily in locations during the project, which is expected to end in September.
The contractor will be required to notify any affected residents seven days before roads are closed or water is shut off, Benzing said.
The utilities are being moved to allow construction of a bridge at Bonanza Drive and Carson Street. Irrigation connectors are also being added to some points along the freeway route to allow for landscaping irrigation, said engineer Jay Aherns.
