More than 150 boys from around Nevada will converge for the opening ceremony of the 57th Session of the American Legion Nevada Boys' State 1 p.m. Sunday on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
During the opening ceremony on Sunday, the session will be dedicated to Nevada's fallen Marines from the liberation of Iraq. The ceremony will take place in the Ansari Business Building (just north of the quad) and is open to the public.
The juniors selected as delegates to Nevada Boys' State will participate in a mock legislative session in Carson City, where they will attempt to have their bills passed into law for signature by the session governor. In addition, they will conduct a flag retirement ceremony at the State Veteran's Memorial behind the Capitol. The public is invited to attend.
