Investigators were looking for the cause of a fire Wednesday morning that destroyed a Silver Springs home.
The blaze was reported about 10:30 a.m. and by the time firefighters arrived at the 2929 Truckee address, the 18-year-old double-wide mobile home was enveloped in flames, said Mary Ellen Holly, spokeswoman for the Central Lyon County Fire District.
"We did structure protection on the home to the north because its windows had already cracked from the heat," she said.
Homeowner Debbie Salvo who lives there with her 14-year-old daughter, wasn't home at the time, Holly said.
Red Cross was called in to assist the family.
"They've lost absolutely everything," she said. "I think I found a few pieces of clothing that were somewhat intact."
Engines from Central Lyon Fire, Fernley Fire and Mason Valley, responded.
Holly said the investigation into the cause will continue today.
"Its burned to the ground, so we might never know the cause," she said.
