Obituary: Ramona Vera Emm

Memorial services for Ramona Vera Emm, 61, of Yerington will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Yerington Tribal Complex.

Mrs. Emm died Feb. 26, 2003 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno. She was born April 3, 1942 in Schurz to Tom and Mae Benjamin.

A longtime resident of Yerington, she graduated from Yerington High School in 1959. In 1962, she earned a degree in interior decorating at Haskell Junior College.

During her early years she was active in basketball, volleyball and softball and later remained active participating in fun runs and in cancer fund-raising activities and playing in horseshoe tournaments.

She married Eugene J. Emm Sr.

Mrs. Emm was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Archie and Delmar Stevens; sisters Janet Benjamin Hull, Sharon Benjamin Stable, Pauline Stevens Johnson and Violet Stevens Tom.

Among her survivors are her children Eugene J. Jr., Louina L. Emm and Marcey K. Johnson; grandchildren Hattie Emm, Kambria Smith, Robert Smith Jr., Heidi Emm, Jacob Smith, Moses and Taya Bobb; sisters Marjorie Stevens Stone, Arlene Benjamin; brothers Thomas Benjamin Jr. and Johnny Burns; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Highway 208 in Yerington. Burial will be at the Yerington Paiute Tribal Cemetery.
