New commercial complex to be built

Ribeiro Corp. in Reno has submitted plans to build a commercial development, Carson Quail Business Park, on 6.5 acres in South Carson City.

Bordered by Carson, Curry and Rhodes streets, the park will include 62,241 square feet of commercial space. Ranging in size from 4,200 to 26,000 square feet, the buildings can accommodate a range of businesses, from restaurants and offices to retail and light industrial.

Jennifer Pruitt, associate planner with Carson City's Community Development Department said Ribeiro submitted a major project review with the city a few weeks ago.

Because the project size exceeds 50,000 square feet and the property includes two types of zoning, retail commercial and general commercial, the project will require a special use permit.

Riberio's permit request will be reviewed by Carson City's Planning Commission on March 26.

Corporation officials did not return numerous phone calls Friday.
