Lucy "Noona" Barbettini, 92, a 29-year resident of Carson City died Feb. 27, 2003 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.
Mrs. Barbettini was born May 23, 1910 in Cugnasco, Switzerland to Gildo and Oliva Grossi.
In 1930 she moved to the U.S. and settled in Vallejo, Calif., where she lived for 27 years before moving to South Lake Tahoe.
Mrs. Babettini owned the Swiss Motel in South Lake Tahoe. She retired in 1974 and moved to Carson City.
She was an active member of the Catholic Church and its schools in Vallejo, South Lake Tahoe and in Carson City.
Her first marriage in 1930 was to Angelo Verasconi. He preceded her in death, dying in Yountville, Calif., in 1943. On March 31, 1951 she married Arthur Barbettini in Reno.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl June; brothers Idillio, Egidio, Bruno and a sister Ines.
Among her survivors are her husband of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Cheryl and John Thompson of Benicia, Calif., and Celine and Walter Sullivan of Carson City; sister and brother-in-law Ines and Tino Rossi of St. Helena, Calif., sister Fedora Grossi of Gudo, Switzerland and sister-in-law Verena Grossi of Napa, Calif.; grandsons Sean and Ryan Sullivan both of Carson City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
