120 YEARS AGO

It will be remembered that some time ago, "Buffalo Bill" telegraphed Hank Monk to await an important letter from him. It has since transpired that the letter was received by the deceased. It contained splendid inducements for him to go East and take part in Buffalo Bill's dreams. but Monk was too far in the grave to avail himself of anything of that nature.

100 YEARS AGO

There is one organization in this city that devotes its time to charity, and that is the King's Daughters. Once a year, they hold a sale of necessaries and fancy work, the profits of which go to eliminate the misery of those who have to accept charity. Their motto is "For the good that we can do."

70 YEARS AGO

Nevada Rock & Sand Corp. is getting its construction camp established one mile east of Dayton to start work on the highway 10 miles toward Lahontan. Ten large construction trucks have been parked.

50 YEARS AGO

Carson High School Senior Virginia Gregory placed first in the Carson (Host) Lions' speaking contest, winning over Ruth Dixon and Bill Holcomb. Gregory's topic was "Man's Search for Security."

20 YEARS AGO

Country Western singer Bobby Helms will perform at the Community Center in a special benefit concert for the Carson City Recreation Department.

10 YEARS AGO

Groundbreaking for Western Nevada Community College's almost $600,000 child-care center, headed by child development specialist Connie Denham, is set for this spring.
