Funeral Mass will be said for lifelong Yerington resident Guiseppi "Joseph" Domenici, 82, at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Yerington.
Mr. Domenici died March 6, 2003 in Reno. He was born Nov. 7, 1920 on the Domenici Ranch on Mason Road in Yerington to Pietro and Prasede Rosaschi Domenici.
He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed playing softball, coaching his son's Little League team, trap shooting, hunting and fishing and farming. He left school as a senior and served as a Seaman First Class with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Before that, he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a road master. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he worked for Ben DeMonte for two years returning to the home ranch after the death of his father in 1948.
He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, National Rifle Association, the Farm Bureau and Woodcraft.
He married Gladys Margerie Gomes in Reno Oct. 30, 1939.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Linda Spezzi, Cucina Afalter and Prasede Kelso and a brother Pete.
Among his survivors are: his wife of Yerington; daughters and sons-in-law Jo Ann and Dale Wessel of Reno and Cecilia and Stan Borek; son and daughter-in-law Henry and Diana Domenici of Southern California; five grandchildren Joseph, Christopher and Anthony Borek, Tracy Wessel and Shawn Davis; four great-grandchildren Kendra and Logan Davis and Austin and Grant Borek; and a brother and sister-in-law Andro and Elsene Domenici.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to South Lyon Home Health Care or the Kidney Foundation.
