120 YEARS AGO

A Washoe City denizen informs the Appeal that the old Bowers Mansion is haunted. For the past month. two white figures have been stalking about the grounds after nightfall. Bah! There appears to be a grave mistake about the cane presented to Sam Wagner, porter of the Assembly. It was purchased and paid for by Col. E.P. Hardesty, assemblyman from Elko County.

100 YEARS AGO

Empire has had to take a back seat for the past month, owing to the many attractions in this city. But it will compensate for lost time with a St. Patrick's night dance, which will eclipse anything given in the city during the winter.

70 YEARS AGO

The final performance of "Danger at the Crossroad," given by the Leisure Hour Club, will be this evening at the clubhouse, not at Stewart as was reported. All the children of the state orphans' home have complimentary tickets, announced Mrs. C.A. Bovett, president.

50 YEARS AGO

Cadets signed up so far for the newly organized Carson Civil Air Patrol held their first meeting in the civic auditorium with rudiments by assistant commandant Bill Stirman.

20 YEARS AGO

Assemblyman Bob Thomas, R-Carson City, said he would defend a proposal to extend the sale-to-services tax as the fairest way to solve Nevada's revenue problem.

10 YEARS AGO

Thanks to the dedication of library volunteers Maurice "Mo" Devereaux and Rolf Chase, Carson City Library offers a special service for homebound adults and free book delivery to children.
