It was no surprise that the Carson High softball team was able to pour it on against Hug on Tuesday at home in a 23-1 win.
The Senators improved to 3-1 in the Sierra League in the game that was called after 4 1/2 innings.
"It was pretty much what we expected," Carson coach John Sullivan said. "The girls played real well.
"We pitched the ball real well. Good pitching and good defense and we hit the ball real well. It was a pretty well played game."
The game gave Sullivan a chance to use three pitchers. Mandy Carvin and Lindsay Farnworth each pitched an inning. Ambir Rackley was credited with the win, pitching the final three innings.
Carvin and Farnworth each didn't allow a hit in a scoreless inning of work while Rackley allowed an unearned run on two hits. The three combined to strike out nine: Carvin (one), Farnworth (two), Rackley (six). "All three of them did real well," Sullivan said.
Carson banged out 17 hits, scoring 11 runs in the first inning, seven in the second and five in the fourth.
Ariadne Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with a double, Elizabeth Rankl went 1-for-3, Rackley was 1-for-2 with an RBI, Farnworth went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs, Lindsey Perondi went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, Heather Diamond was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Bethany Henry went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, Nicole Monge was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, Kaitie Vidovich was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and Natalie Mandoki went 2-for-4, belting two two-run doubles.
