Anyone looking to volunteer regularly -- or just one time -- can pick and choose from several opportunities offered at today's Volunteer Fair at the Carson City Community Center.
Twenty-three organizations will be on hand from 3 to 7 p.m. to answer questions and sign up volunteers. The Salvation Army will also hold a campaign in the center's parking lot with free hot dogs, chili, nachos and drinks.
"I think it's important for people to take time and give back to the community," organizer Pauline Kiser said. "All organizations have opportunities for one-time volunteers, long-term volunteers and everything in between."
Among those planning to take part in the event are Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Girl Scouts of America, the committee planning Nevada Day celebrations, the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada, Friends in Service Helping and schools.
The community center is at 851 E. William St., Carson City.
