DAYTON -- A Stagecoach man was at fault in an accident that seriously injured a Silver Springs woman, police said.
Roger Anthony Spatig, 21, was cited for reckless driving following the accident at about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Dayton Valley Road and Highway 50 East.
A 1991 Chevrolet SUV, driven by Delbert Broon Jr., 36, of Silver Springs, was stopped in the westbound lane at a red light, when Spatig, who was looking at his cell phone, slammed into Broon's vehicle, said Trooper Pat McGill of the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Two children, Kaitlyn Reeves, 1 , and Margaret Delarosa, 5, were in the back seat in car seats, McGill said, however, the bench seat of the vehicle wasn't fastened to the floor and was thrown forward. Front seat passenger Jessica Warfield, 26, was taken to Washoe Medical Center by Care Flight helicopter. Broon, Spatig and the children were transported to Carson-Tahoe Hospital where they were treated and released.
McGill said Spatig was drinking prior to the accident but a breath-test revealed he wasn't over the legal limit.
