Highway 395 fire accidental

The investigation into a fire that left four Gardnerville residents homeless and severely burned continues.

The investigation shows the fire was accidental, and started in the laundry room, but thus far investigators have not pinned down a specific cause, said East Fork Fire and Paramedic District Investigator Terry Taylor.

"It was confirmed by interviews and an examination of the fire scene," Taylor said. "There were a number of things that could have happened in there to cause a fire."

Estimates say there was $150,000 in damage to the structure and $30,000 in lost contents.

Fire victims Tina Ellington,15, Rick Collins, 44, and Jenny Collins, 19, have all been discharged from Washoe Medical Center, according to a spokesperson.
