A funeral for Marlene Gayle Simpson, 57, a Yerington resident for the past 12 years, will be at 3 p.m. today at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington.
Mrs. Simpson died May 3, 2003, at the South Lyon Medical Center of cancer. She was born May 31, 1945, in Nyssa, Ore., to Arnold and Dorothy McClure Slippy.
She was raised and attended schools in Adrain, Ore., graduating from Adrain High School in 1963.
Mrs. Simpson owned and was involved in ranching in the Westfall and Adrain areas. After selling the ranch, she moved to Nyssa to work at Malheur Memorial Hospital. In 1990, she became an X-ray technician at South Lyon Medical Center and moved to Yerington.
She was an avid bowler and enjoyed camping and fishing at Desert Creek with her husband.
Among her survivors are her husband, Richard of Yerington; son, Charlie Jenkins of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Juliene Hart of Payette, Idaho; stepson, Daniel, currently serving in Iraq; stepdaughters Barbara Davis and Lois House of Reno and Heather Shine of Elko; sisters Carol Duncan and Mavis Kygar of Ontario, Ore., Sharon Gordon of Eugene, Ore., and Janee Brockway of Juneau, Alaska; brothers Darrel Slippy of Pasco, Wash., and Jay Kaygar, of Ontario, Ore.; and nine grandchildren.
Burial with a graveside service will be Thursday at Oweyee Cemetery in Nyssa.
Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
