The Feather River Community College baseball team will host one of four Northern California regionals in the state playoffs.
Feather River was seeded No. 4 in the NorCal Regionals and will host No. 5 Santa Rosa (29-13), No. 13 Diablo Valley (25-19) and No. 12 Chabot (25-15) in the regional. Feather River will open the playoffs at noon Friday against Diablo Valley.
The Golden Eagles settled for a split at Lassen to end the regular season. Feather River lost 8-6 in the opener and came back to win the nightcap 5-3.
Feather River ended the season by winning 8 of its last 10 and 23 of its last 27. The Golden Eagles finished with the second best record in Northern California and third best in the state at 31-8. Feather River also won the Golden Valley Conference with a 21-4 mark.
In the 8-6 loss to Lassen, Galena High graduate Byron Cragg struck out the only batter he faced and Carson High's Tim Priess allowed one run in relief. Other local players on the roster include Fernley's Tyler Selden and Douglas High's Cal Lewis and Tommy Hoyle.
