Carson City Rotarians plan to distribute up to 6,000 roses for Mother's Day.
Peter Fishburne of the Rotary Club of Carson City said the group hopes to sell as many as 500 dozen roses at $25 a bunch.
A couple of hundred dozen roses have already been sold, he said Tuesday.
"We'll be taking orders until Friday," he said. "The money goes for the Rotary projects that we do all year long."
Once all the orders are in, Rotarians will gather at the Nevada Appeal to sort the roses and prepare them for delivery on Friday and Saturday.
Fishburne said deliveries to businesses will take place on Friday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Home deliveries will occur Saturday morning before 10 a.m.
"These are nice roses," he said. "You can get roses cheaper, but it's going for a good cause."
Rotarians have been raising money by selling roses on Mother's Day for more than 30 years.
Orders for roses can be made by calling Sierra Veterinary Clinic at 883-0261 or by contacting a Rotary Club member.
