A memorial service for Richard Edward Davis, 82, a Yerington resident for the past 12 years, will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home with Pastor David Heath officiating.
Mr. Davis died May 5, 2003, at Long Term Care of South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington. He was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Pilot Grove, Mo., to Elvin and Maria Maddex Davis. His family moved to Smith Valley where he graduated from high school.
He married Eva Carwile, in Oakland, Calif., June 13, 1948.
Mr. Davis worked as a cook for a short time before he joined the U.S. Army in which he served for more than 20 years, retiring as a master sergeant.
Before moving to Yerington, he lived in Seattle, Wash.
Among his survivors are his wife, of Yerington; son, Elvin of Seattle; daughter, Alta Lee Burger of New York; brother, James of Wellington and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Inurnment will be at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
