As expected, Carson and Galena -- two of the teams heading to the NIAA 4A State Championships -- were well-represented on the all-league first teams in Northern Nevada.

Carson had five players named to the all-Sierra League first team while Galena had seven players named to the all-High Desert League first team, including Steve Lerud, who was named as the league's most valuable player.

For Carson, Jon Teeter was named to the first team at second base, Willie Bowman was chosen at shortstop, Owen Brolsma was selected at catcher and Jake Rasner and Scott DeFriez were picked as pitchers.

For Douglas, Austin Graham was chosen as the first baseman, Chris Honer was picked as a pitcher and James Bunting was chosen as an outfielder.

Named to the first team for Galena along with Lerud were Ryan Plemmons at first base, Warren Whitley at second, Kameron Davis at third, Tyler Stafford in the outfield, Tim Thompson as a pitcher and Dalton Turnbow as a designated hitter.

Named to the second team for Carson were first baseman Tony Teixeira, pitcher Ryan Henry, outfielder Aaron Henry and Mike Handley as a utility player. Jake Nielsen and Brian Miller were named to the second team for Douglas. Named to the second team for Galena were Frank Kurnik and Jason Romero.

Honorable mention choices were Carson's Neil Holmes, Cameron Leck and Eric Melendez and Douglas High's Luke Rippee and Brandon Silveira.
