A California motorcyclist was the fifth person killed in four separate accidents on western Nevada highways this weekend.

The 54-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Kingsbury Grade on 1:08 p.m. Sunday afternoon after he failed to make a right curve as he was eastbound on the twisting road.

The El Sobrante, Calif., man was not identified, pending notification of next of kin. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.

A Yerington man was identified as the victim of a fatal accident Saturday night near Mason; two women, one from Fallon and one from Panaca, died Saturday in an accident 30 miles east of Tonopah.; a Gardnerville woman died in a head-on collision in Douglas County on Saturday; and a California man was killed Sunday in another accident on Kingsbury Grade.

Paul McCrary, 58, of Yerington was killed at about 5:19 p.m. on State Route 339 when he was ejected from a Ford van during a head-on collision. The driver of the second vehicle, Charles Eugene Hutchinson, 41, was listed in critical condition at Washoe Medical Center. The driver of the Ford, Robert McDaniel of Yerington, was treated for minor injuries.

Alcohol appears to be a factor, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper James Farmer.

Minutes before the accident that killed McCrary, at 5:12 p.m., Lynette Ramsey, 39, of Gardnerville was driving a silver BMW sedan west on State Route 208 when she veered into the path of a green BMW, according to Farmer. In that car was Donna Murphy, 49, of Wellington.

Ramsey was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Murphy was cut from her vehicle and transported to Washoe Medical Center.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, Farmer said.

According to Trooper Rocky Gonzales, around 3:20 p.m. Saturday, a Saturn sedan with three occupants was northbound on State Route 375, 30 miles east of Tonopah, when the driver made an "abrupt steering movement to the right."

Gonzales said the driver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to rotate counter-clockwise, cross the center line into the southbound travel lanes, then roll several times, ejecting all three occupants.

Verna L. Dabel, 25, of Fallon and Crystal Dabel, 16, of Panaca, were pronounced dead at the scene. Vincent Dyer, 25, of Fallon received multiple injuries and was transported to Nye Regional Medical Center in Tonopah, where he was treated and released.

Because all the occupants were ejected, Gonzales said, it has not been determined who the driver was.

The accident is still under investigation.
