A memorial service for Rita Evangeline Goodwin, a long-time Philomath, Ore., resident, will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the memorial chapel of Capital Christian Center.
Mrs. Goodwin died May 17, 2003. She was born in 1913 in New York City.
She attended Dickinson's Seminary, now called Lycoming College, in Williamsport, Pa.. She graduated from Jenny Hunter's Kindergarten Training School in New York and taught kindergarten there.
She moved in 1948 to Oregon, where she was a homemaker. She worked part time as city librarian and kindergarten aide and was a contributor to the Corvallis, Ore., Gazette Times. She served on the local voting board for several years and was a leader for Campfire Girls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1997; son Bruce; sister, Eulah Clahan; and brother Victor Musso.
Among her survivors are her sons Roger of Salem, Ore., and Mark of Camas, Wash.; daughters Rita Goodwin of Cornelius, Ore., Barbara Cook of Playa Del Ray, Calif., Marsha Winckler of Minden and Valerie Phelps of Kalispell, Mont.; brother, Alfred Musso, of Colonie, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at the family plot near Lenox, Mass.
